Skiing starts again! In Cervinia on Friday 25 November the slopes of the Italian side will reopen. With new lifts, lots of fun and free ski tests.

The long wait has finally come to an end: from Friday 25 November, in fact, at the foot of the Matterhorn, ski enthusiasts will be able to start practicing their favorite activity again and snow lovers to breathe deeply the crystalline air of a winter environment without equal. As is now the practice, Cervinia is the first major resort in the Italian Alps to reopen its lifts, respecting its role as "forerunner" of the national ski movement, despite unfavorable climatic conditions. And so, next weekend, the lifts that go up to Plan Maison, Cime Bianche Laghi and Plateau Rosa will be joined by the Plan Maison, Fornet, Bontadini chairlifts with slopes 6, 6.0, 6.00, the Plan Maison treadmill, the Goillet chairlift with slopes 35, 37, 38, the Ventina slope (no. 7) up to Cime Bianche Laghi and the Gran Sometta chairlift with slope 12.

For the occasion, on the first weekend (November 25-27) the cable car from Breuil-Cervinia will start operating at 8:00 while the last descent from Plateau Rosa will take place at 16:10

The inauguration on November 25 represents the first step towards the opening, expected in the coming weeks, of the entire Cervino Ski Paradise which, in addition to Breuil-Cervinia, includes the ski areas of Valtournenche, Torgnon and Chamois. And the beginning of a very long season, which will last from autumn until well into spring, ending on May 7, 2023.

Big news: opening of the Gran Sometta chairlift

The big news this winter is represented by the opening of the Gran Sometta 6-seater chairlift: in fact, this facility that has been awaited for years and positioned at a crucial junction between the slopes of Valtournenche and the ski resort of Breuil-Cervinia/Zermatt. The latest generation chairlift, with a protective dome, replaces the pre-existing ski lift, considerably speeding up the passage between the different sectors of the Matterhorn Ski Paradise and covering the 1,163-metre journey in 4 minutes which leads to the 3,093-metre station of I arrive.

The commissioning of the new Gran Sometta facility is only the first novelty of the Cervino Ski Paradise winter season which includes, among other things, the inauguration of slope no. 34 which will connect the town of Cielo Alto to the departure point of the Cervinia ski lifts and the construction of a covered treadmill for children and beginners at Campetto di Cretaz.

Saturday and Sunday fun in the snow and free ski tests with the "Free Practice Tour" by Pool Italia

Furthermore, on Saturday 26 and Sunday 27 November, Plan Maison will be the setting in which snow and ski enthusiasts will be able to find the funnest "playground" in the Alps, a real village made up of numerous inflatable gazebos. Music, entertainment, happy hour, gadgets for everyone and, above all, advice from expert skimen and, upon registration, the possibility of being able to test skis for free – 500 pairs – of brands (Atomic, Blizzard, Dynastar, Fischer, Head, Nordica , Rossignol, Salomon and Voelkl) who are part of Pool Italia, are the ingredients of the "Free Practice Tour".

An ideal occasion to celebrate the opening of the Breuil-Cervinia slopes in style.
